I always encourage the gardener to grow from seed; the temptations to misrepresentation and of offering poorly adapted varieties or poorly grown seedlings are so great in the seedling/transplant business.
My partner, Muriel, says a lot of city kids here in Australia don't even have an idea where milk comes from.
