Margaret, I think it was on this list that someone remarked that the term "organic gardening" has
fallen into disrepute because it has lately been associated with practitioners who have gone 'new
age', trying to cure problems with crystals and such. I was merely pointing out that despite
that possibility, the trend shown in my poll is that people are trying to get away from the use
of chemicals and to go organic with compost, manure and other environmentally friendly methods.
Actually, I've noticed that about the vocal minority that post in our discussions all along. They
want to know how to attract beneficial insects, worry about the effects of using even so-called
organic products on birds and butterflies, etc.
Of course several of them have gone "Jerry Baker" in the interests of being organic - but the
instincts are good, anyway.
