Re: Gardening profits

More than ten years ago Mr. Haskell, horticulturist in New Bedford, MA, said
that interest in land around one's house was very closely tied to age. He
said that when individuals entered their 50's they gradually became willing
to spend money at his business. Nationally we are now seeing all those
Eisenhower era babies come of age for gardening. I regularly see prosperous
looking people who have trouble distinguishing the foliage of Pinus and Acer.
They have concentrated on professional achievement and now want their
residences to reflect their wealth. One of the senior people of Pressley the
local landscape architecture firm also remarked that early life experience
with money made people more or less willing to wait for results. His example
was about people who went through their teens in the late thirties and early
forties Vs people who had not been restricted by financial considerations.
