The economic downturn should see more people raising their own food, if
they can manage to do that without running afoul of codes, covenants and
restrictions. As for gardening being a popular hobby, look at the discount
dept. stores such as Fred Meyer, K-Mart, and similar stores. As soon as
their Christmas sales are over, they stock garden supplies and outdoor
furniture. That's what takes up substantial space until after Labor Day,
at which time Christmas items replace the garden stuff. January to
