Re: [GWL]: White List


Mexico does not have phytosanitary certification available, and if they 
don't have it, I seriously doubt if Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Colombia, and 
other Third World countries have it available either.  I didn't see 
exceptions to their law for orchids or any other plant materials for 
medical lab evaluation in the announcement printed in the Federal Register. 
I wonder where that information would be found.  I have heard that a mega 
seed company has "patented" nuñas, or popping beans, grown for centuries by 
native farmers in the Andes.  It would be rather amusing if the company is 
estopped from importing them.  Margaret Lauterbach
