New certification info

Hi Lon,

Are you aware that:
    1. USDA is requiring MA Certification to certify an egg producer
whose hens are in cages but who can "see" some sunlight if they can
push past the other hens to get down to the other end of the
cage? --The rule states, "access to the outdoors," and I guess USDA
believes that what it means. The jokes on these "organic" eggs are
yellow not because they eat bugs but because they eat marigold
leaves. --No joke!

    2. USDA has just added a bunch of very nasty inerts to the list of
acceptable products--the things that we (organic farmers) have
disallowed of our own volition for very good reasons.
