Re: gardenwriters Digest, Vol 59, Issue Lost cents & Speaking engagements

Hi Ellen,

Thank you, the option-4 gives me my ¢¢ worth on my MacBook.

Re: the thread on speaking engagements, I have found that even though both
"Edible Flowers" and "Evening Gardens" books are currently out of print
(yes, I'm working to revise them and get them back in circulation), those
are the most requested lectures. It is very different living in a "fly
over" state; when I moved to Iowa from NY, the number of lectures I did
decreased drastically due to the paucity of local garden clubs and botanic
gardens, yet I still get several invitations for well-paying major talks in
other areas of the country. Since my last two books were regional (Gardening
in the Prairie Lands States, and Month by Month Gardening in the Prairie
Lands), even the prospects were somewhat limited. I must say that one of
the best speaking engagements was at the Journey Museum in Rapid City, South
Dakota, organized by the only GWA member in the Dakotas. A full day with
four lectures, lunch, booksignings between each talk, sold out on 6
different titles!. I was impressed by the enthusiasm of the folks who
came?from as far as Wyoming.

Wishing all a happy, healthy, and prosperous New Year.

Cheers,
Cathy
