Re: Invincibelle 'Spirit' (Pink Annabelle Hydrangea) - Ideaswanted
Hi, Tim ~
The Virginia Thurston Healing Garden is located in Harvard, Mass.
A beloved past president of the Garden Club Federation of Massachusetts, in
1993 "Ginny" Thurston was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer before
passing away in 1999 from the dreaded disease. Her husband donated the 8
acres around their former home to establish the Healing Garden in her
memory.
Today, the garden's mission is "To provide a healing environment to those
experiencing breast cancer, with no financial barriers to treatment."
Among the yearly fundraising programs is The Healing Garden's Perennial 5K
(3.1 miles) Walk, open to individuals, families and teams and held in the
summer. They also hold Garden Parties. Maybe there is some way that your
plants could help raise needed funds? Although not directly involved in
research, per se, the Garden heals.
Or, maybe a few of the Invincibelles could be donated and planted on the
grounds?
Elizabeth Tyson-Smith is the Executive Director. She may be reached via
email at betsy@healinggarden.net or telephone, 978-456-3532 .
Let me know if I may be of assistance.
Best regards, Hilda
