[GWL]: Symposium Plants
This question is for the GWAA members who attended the symposium and got a
carton of houseplants from the Herman Englemann booth at the trade show.
One of the plants was a showy croton with the name 'Mamey.' I suspect it is
related to the Florida Plant of the Year 2002--Mammy. It's a red, yellow,
orange and black twisted leaf plant that require high light indoors and
humidity. If you got this plant, how has it done for you?
I'm writing an article on new houseplants for 2002 and 2003 and would like
to include this one, because of its unusual leaves and colors. The one I
received is amongst my orchids under fluorescent lights and on a humidity
tray. Of course, it is growing well, and the colors are stunning.
But....these conditions are NOT what the average houseplant gets. So I
would like your experiences so I can judge if Mamey or Mammy is tough enough
for the average consumer.
TIA
Doreen Howard
