Re: The INSECURITY barrier; tips for beginners

Carol - that was reassuring advice, thank you. In a career where we often
work in isolation, it's easy to think you're 'the only one' that can't do
something. I can identify with you on many things, especially:
"At some point, I find myself writing or thinking of good beginnings and
endings.  If I had to think of them before I started writing I would never
start.  So I let them come when they want to come."

I've also found that I 'over research'. Just want to make sure I don't miss
the one important fact that will make the story stand out. Which is just
another way to avoid beginning to write. It sometimes helps me to make a
loose outline of what I want to cover. Once I see how much I have, I'm more
inclined to start - but never with the 'beginning', it has to be perfect and
I can use up days (if I have the time) to come up with a perfect beginning.
If I start with point one instead, I can do a great job. As you said, the
beginning arrives when it's ready! Thank god for deadlines or I'd never get
anything done.
