Re: Prime Film Scanner

Title: Re: [GWL] Prime Film Scanner
If you are talking about the plastic floppies, then you won't be able to get very much on them. Photos are huge memory hogs. I'd suggest you invest in a CD burner...they are usually less than $100. Then you put a lot more images on a disk than you could ever put on a floppy. A ZIP disk would work, too, but again, the capacity isn't nearly what a CD would be.

Jo Ellen,  good advice.

My thought was to transfer the images to "floppies" since I don't have a CD burner.  Would that still work?

Lorraine -- Before digitizing all those prints, you need to make sure that your computer has enough memory to handle them. Graphics can eat up a lot of memory.

In general, scanning photos is a very time intensive process.

I really need help with digital technology!

Right now, I have loads of prints I'd like to get into digitized format and have been looking at scanners.  Assuming my 5 year old computer can take the load, I'd be interested in what the experienced users of this tool can add to my very low level of knowledge.

Also, Costco has a special this month on a scanner made by PrimeFilm called the 35mm Film and Slide Scanner 3650U with Digital ICe technology.  I haven't been able to find what I think to be dependable info on this particular model so again, if anyone out there can enlighten me, I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks and regards,

Lorraine
