Desperately seeking a quote...

I'm working on a column. I need an Annie Dillard quote, and can't find it. I think it's from "Pilgrim at Tinker Creek," which I also can't find on my shelves anymore, and it goes something like this: 
Spring is seeping north at 20 miles a day.
Google has let me down on this one; I found it on one college site, in a paper that contained enough other errors to make me wary of accepting it verbatim.
Anybody? Off-list, please.
