I think it's a moot point and really unimportant because
nothing sent to an email list is ever really private anyway.
There's no way you as list owner (or anyone else) can
prevent a list member from copying one or more messages and
doing what he/she will with them - sending them to a
newsgroup, putting them on a website: whatever. (Yes,
copyright applies but is essentially unenforceable on the
Internet, which is world wide.)
I think it's a good idea for list members to remember this.
Never write anything you wouldn't want distributed to the
world: e.g., never say you've done something illegal, never
criticize your boss or spouse on an email list, etc.
