crediting the gardener (was photo releases)

The writer creates their piece, the editor, usually, improves it. The gardener creates their plot, the photographer presents it at its best.>

Dan this really reduces the photographer to not much more than a button pusher. Your description is perhaps appropriate for the average person documenting a garden with their camera, but not for any professional claiming the right to earn money from their photography. Publishable photography is a heck of a lot more than just point and shoot. If the photographer is doing their job they bring a level of creativity to the task that is at least equal to that of the garden designer. The same could be said of the writer. Just take a look at the higher national end garden publications, lay them down next to some of the cheaper ones, and you ought to see a huge difference. Photographers like Richard Felber, Marion Brenner, Saxon Holt, Rob Cardillo, and so many other great, creative photographers interpret gardens, frequently making them look orders of magnitude better than their own creators ever dreamed of. For a garden photographer, the gardener's work is a jumping off point, n
ot just a scene to point a lens at.
