Publishable photography is a heck of a lot more than just point and shoot. If the photographer is doing their job they bring a level of creativity to the task that is at least equal to that of the garden designer. The same could be said of the writer. Just take a look at the higher national end garden publications, lay them down next to some of the cheaper ones, and you ought to see a huge difference. Photographers like Richard Felber, Marion Brenner, Saxon Holt, Rob Cardillo, and so many other great, creative photographers interpret gardens, frequently making them look orders of magnitude better than their own creators ever dreamed of. For a garden photographer, the gardener's work is a jumping off point,

It doesn't necessarily make the photographer a button pusher. I think Dan
is just saying that you need to recognize the person's work upon which you're
building.
If I put together an artistically designed multimedia presentation that
consisted of nothing but your photos, would that be OK? It's not easy to
do the programming aspect and design in and of itself is difficult -- a
'mouse-clicker' couldn't just come up with it.
No answer required -- I'm not trying to start a debate and just wanted
to make that point. :)
