I got this request this morning too. I responded on face value - I checked the links she provided and on first glance they seem to be well written and legit. I responded honestly that I don't have guest writers on my blog. My blog is part of my own marketing strategy/business plan and that doesn't include other writers. I also asked her if SHE had a blog, and if so to send me the URL. If she's a real garden writer it would make sense that she'd have her own blog as part of her goal of getting more work. I also suggested that she join GWA - it can't hurt.
