website add-ons

To anyone who's reasonably savvy with Wordpress-based websites:

I need to find some add-ons for my website that's built around a  
Wordpress template, and I'd appreciate suggestions from anyone *who  
has personal experience implementing add-ons like what I'm about to  
describe or has seen them implemented and can direct me to websites  
where I can see them in action."  My website is:

I need two enhancements to support and market my forthcoming book.   
First, I need a photo gallery that includes a search feature.   
Basically, because of the usual budget restraints for a 4-color book,  
it wasn't possible to reproduce all the photos in the book that I  
would have liked.  Those photos have to be in a gallery at my website,  
and visitors need to be able to search by plant name to find the  
corresponding photo.  Any other features would be icing on the cake,  
but that's the basic functionality I need.

The second item I need is some sort of gallery for displaying sample  
pages from the book.  Here's an example of one that I think works well:

The author of this book is trying to find out from his website  
designer (or figure out from his dashboard) what was used to implement  
that feature.  The add-on needs to be able to display double-page  
spreads, but beyond that I don't have a specific wish list.

Your suggestions would be very welcome, especially if you've used what  
you're recommending and can comment on any difficulties you had.
