Re: [GWL]: new topic?

It comes from the same root as decimal, meaning "one tenth". My Webster's 
Unabridged says "to take or destroy one tenth part of."  I think this is 
one of those with an evolving meaning, but I'm old-fashioned enough to 
insist on the original meaning.  Margaret L
