[GWL]: Editors making writers look foolish

In the current issue of Gardens Illustrated I have a piece about
hellebores. The copy says that H. orientalis 'is a tough perennial
which is evergreen in Britain and the southern states of Texas, USA."
Clearly this is nonsense, and I didn't write it, but there it is in
the magazine. Texas wasn't even mentioned in my original copy,
neither was this ludicrous phrase in the edtited version the magazine
sent me - they just slipped it in at the last moment.

On British magazines the standard of subbing varies wildly, how is it
on American magazines?
