Re: [GWL]: Editors making writers look foolish


It's been my experience that I can catch these foolish or inaccurate
substitutions or additions in the galley copy, which is emailed to me for
approval.  I work with one editor regularly who has no horticulture
background.  She has never had dirt on her hands, either.  I insist that I
see the final edit, because she has made awful mistakes in the past, such as
labeling a calendula (Mexican Pot Marigold) as yellow marigold.  All it took
was one incident where she looked foolish and caught heat from her boss to
make her rely on my judgement.  I make it a point to ask for final approval
of the last edit, unless I'm working with an editor I truly trust.

So.....Graham, you may be able to turn this situation into something
advantageous for yourself.  Just my 2 cents worth.
