[GWL]: Computer Graphics Question
Question for the computer graphics jocks on the list. I am looking for some
software, very inexpensive of course, that will allow me to take a base map,
e.g. the United States, and be able to trace with the cursor an area within
the map; e.g. native area of flowering dogwood; and then add a transparent
color to inside that area. I have over 400 maps to develop for plants
insects, songbirds, etc. I have done this task with a drawing program, but
it was very tedious and not terribly reliable. My fantasy is to call up a
map of the U.S., or a map of one of the states as the base. Then take my
cursor and outline my area of concern. Then hit a button and have
transparent green or blue or whatever fill in the area of concern. Save
that sucker as a jpeg or gif file and move on to the next one.
Does anyone know if there is any tool out there that will do that job for
me?
Thanks
Jeff Ball
