Regarding worm bins.  I have 2 in the basement and put them on my back deck during the warm
months.  Also cover them the worms with lots of bedding and leaves from the yard.  I think you
get more fruit flies if you feed them too much and or put in lots of orange peelings and other
fruits.  If I notice fruit flies, I will take outside for a few minutes and let them fly away.
The vermibin that I had at my environmental club at a public school never seemed to get any, nor
did the tiered Can-O-Worms bin that I kept in my dining room.  I covered this over with a lace
cloth so it looked like a table.  Not using the Can-O-Worms at the moment as I combined it with
the others when we renovated our dining room. Did you know that you should also add some ground
up egg shells about once every two weeks?  The calcium will offset the acid.  Larraine Roulston.
