Re: Freelance contract

Interesting stuff Larry.
Is it legal in American law for contracts to be changed retroactively?
This would be the crux of the matter for me.
I wonder if there is room for negotiation on the past works component of
their contract.

As far as the rest goes, i.e. current and future work, wouldn't one consider
themselves to be an employee of that paper for the duration of the writing
exercise. If it is unpalatable, either in the sense of "working for the man"
or surrendering intellectual rights, wouldn't one choose not to enter into
contract with them?
I would also like to think that the Globe's competitors are thanking them
for the influx of freelance talent.
Am I being impossibly naive about this?
Dan
