Subject: [GWL] Plant a Row project Oregon
Dear Colleagues,
The edible display garden promoting Oregon PAR at the Yard, Garden and Patio Show in Portland is steaming along, and we are engaging garden centers to run PAR projects throughout the state. We have detailed contact information for food donation sites in the Portland metro area, and regional Oregon Food Bank contacts for the rest of the state. We are expecting a big media push for the kickoff of our project, and any/all of you who have an outlet can help us by promoting the project in your columns, radio and TV shows.
What we need now is garden communicators to commit time to building the garden and to appearing at the garden for a two-hour shift during the show. We start building on Monday, Feb 14 and continue until finished. The show runs Friday, Feb 18 (10 am-9 pm), Saturday, Feb 19 (10 am-9 pm) and Sunday, Feb 20 (10 am- 6 pm). Then, of course, we have to take the whole thing apart Sunday evening and Monday.
Please contact me asap and let me know when you can help with this important project.
Thanks already to Linda Beutler, Lucy Hardiman and Kym Pokorny for signing up for show shifts. We hope that GWA Region 6 speakers from Seattle, Debra Prinzing, Mary Robson, Marty Wingate and Cisco Morris, will make appearances when they are in town, and I will contact all speakers about pitching in too.
Thanks for your help.
Happy New Year, and Plant a Row.
Elizabeth
