The publisher provides review copies. If you
have a regular column where you do reviews or if you have a publication you
think will be interested in printing your review, publishers will be happy to
oblige. I have a recently published book, Earthly Delights: Gardening by
the Seasons the Easy Way (Taylor Trade Publishing) and the publicist (tmiracle@rowman.com) who handles the
book sends review copies. When I myself request that a review copy be sent
to a writer, I tell her who the person writes for so she has confidence it's not
just a freebie book. If a positive review comes out, it's a good
investment for publishers who have very limited advertising
budgets.
