Japanese Beetles- oops forgot this one

The beetle grubs need moisture in the soil to develop.  In the year following a dry summer or drought you will see a dramatic drop off in beetle populations.  We had two summers of serious drought in 2001 and 2002.  In 2003 and 2004 we had virtually no Japanese Beetles.  Very wet summers can also hold down the grub populations.

Someone noted that skunks like the grubs.  They'll rip up a lawn to feast on them.  But so will opossums and moles.
