I, too, have freelanced extensively for Meredith. I echo Lois' sentiments,
and when I heard the news, felt a stab of concern for the editors in Des
Moines. I suppose as with most dreadful situations, if you don't know anyone
who has been impacted, it doesn't hit home. But many on the staff at
Meredith are GWA members, just like us. They need our support and assurance
that, should they become freelancers, we'll help in any way we can.

Some of us write and scout for Meredith. It's very competitive and garden
styling can be hard, heavy labor. I earn every penny they pay me. Let's show
a little respect for fellow garden writers. No matter where we ply our
trade, I'm sure we're all trying to help others have a better gardening
experience.
