Re: Sourest citrus fruit as Spam

Shauna - sorry you found that cranky - my intent was to pass along the
information that his emailing practices were being treated as spam by the
system. Perhaps I could have found a softer way to present the information.
It's something I work on regularly with my own systems. In the e-publishing
world, being listed as a spammer is the single worst thing you can do
because once your email is listed that way - your url and website are
similarly whacked by google. And being taken off google's spam-list (or any
isp for that matter - they all talk to each other now) is not an easy task.
This is why I use a fully-featured mailing system rather than a
stand-alone on my own system and url. I use aweber.com for all my mail
distribution btw.
Email has gone way beyond sending out a list to your friends. Once you get
into business and have a mailing list, then you really do want to keep it as
clean as possible. For example, if you have a mailing list, did you know
that a significant number of people will unsubscribe from that list by
hitting the spam button? This puts your mailing directly into their spam
box and they no longer see it. Once enough people do this, your email is
now treated as spam by the isp (such as gmail, yahoo, msn etc and all the
smaller ones take their lists of banned ip and email addresses from the
majors). Unless you have systems in place to eliminate or reduce or deal
with this problem, it doesn't take too long before your emails and url are
compromised. I use aweber reporting systems to modify and learn what
kinds of data gets this response and "try" to adjust accordingly. You can't
eliminate the problem but you can mitigate it - and use a system that deals
with the problem (like aweber does).

So - again, sorry you found my note cranky. I'm sure Doreen would be glad
to unsub you.

Doug
