Re: New York accommodation

Have you tried contacting the New York Visitors and Convention Bureau? They
may be able to put you up in a hotel for free. You will need to tell them
you are a writer, what you are going to be doing in their city and ask if
they sponsor press trips. Most do. Some of the perks include free meals,
free hotel, free attractions. 

If not, check out Media Kitty. You will need to do a Google search for the
URL. 

I have never been to New York but have taken numerous press trips to
Illinois, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, South Carolina and Florida.

What they will expect from you in return is to write about their city and
the places you go. I often do hotel and restaurant reviews in trade.
