I agree with Andrew. I got into writing for the same reason and
continue to battle newspaper editors who want nothing but pabulum.

I plead guilty. I've marveled at the
rose thread...it speaks volumes about the value of the list. It's
obvious though that garden writers are the same as the rest of the
species...they don't pay attention. Maybe the solution is to simply bite
the bullet and just run one list...the original, one and only...GWL. It's
become an invaluable tool and I only hope you can put up with our
transgressions.
One thing that got me into garden writing was
the lack of factual information in the gardening column that appeared in our
local paper. It was chatty, common and absolutely lacking in science,
horticulture and reason. If nothing else the GWL has offered those who
write such tripe an opportunity to learn from others. I don't know of
any other place where this is happening. It sure doesn't happen through
GWA. So please, please...don't abandon the list. Maybe banish
those who are beyond hope and continue to post personal messages, those who
insist on pasting in the entire question and offer only a one line response
and those who continually post messages that "oops, that wasn't meant
for the whole list" but again....please, please don't abandon us.
I promise I'll ask a list 'appropriate' question at least once a
month.
