You must have a mighty large backyard - 8-10 hours one way is one heck of a drive, particularly when you are on your own.  I tend to include the anticipated travel time/costs with the initial fee.  It would depend on the time of day that this presentation is booked: a noon luncheon-type garden club event 4hrs away is much easier than a 7pm evening event, when I have to find babysitters etc for the kids. Of course for tax purposes its the literal mileage, not how long it takes (through Chicago for instance).
 
So for me its the total time that I charge for, not the actual fuel/wear and tear on the car etc.
