Self publishing
There was an art fair this weekend that included a booth for local
authors to show off their books and meet the public. I signed up for a
stint and while it wasn't terribly productive as book signings go, it
was interesting in other ways.
Of the authors there, at least 75% were self-published. Even one
fellow who had started with a publisher had gone to self-publishing in
his later editions. Granted, several of the books were ones that only
a very small publisher would have even touched to start with, it was
still a surprise to see that so many books go that route now. Of
course computers make it much easier, but is that percentage typical
everywhere?
Oh yes, if you plan to spend several hours in a tent, be sure it isn't
situated right across from a performing stage full of 8 foot tall
amplifiers. Eh? Huh?
