I have to comment on one thing you said...completely off topic...

You said, "The column is supposed to be ultra short, around a thousand 
words, so although I may be able to quote you it cannot be a lengthy quote."

In my world of articles and blogs, "ultra short" is 2-300 words. One of my
travel book contributions required 150 word write ups for each venue. A
thousand words is getting much more rare...other than one magazine I write
for.

Are all of you seeing shorter articles and columns? And, is it the attention
span of readers or the newspapers, magazines and blogs we write for...or
bigger advertising and photos...?

Just wondering...
