If anyone is tempted to use Andrew's method whatever you do don't put anything you think is important in the first or last paragraph. In a situation like this it isn't an editor, who cares about the words, who does the chopping but a copy editor in a hurry and lopping the beginning and end is the easiest place for them to start. Learned that one very early. Nowadays even though I always try and stick to the brief I realise that a late advert may invade my space so I'm still very careful about what information goes where in case there is a copy editor with an axe about
