I plan to bring some Canadian cash with me to  Quebec, but expect to put
most incidental expenses on my credit card. Living in a border county, I
just go to my bank and withdraw cash in Canadian funds. I keep Canadian
dollars in my wallet for those quick trips across the border (it's only 22
miles from my house).
