If you are attending the GWA symposium in Pittsburgh and will be in town
on Friday morning, you are invited to join me for the Pittsburgh River
Restoration tree tour on bikes. Here are the details:
Over the last decade Pittsburghâs riverfronts have become a hub of
activity for recreation, ecological restoration, and commuting. Join GWA member
Phyllis Gricus along with staff members from both Tree Pittsburgh and Western
Pennsylvania Conservancy on the GWA story ride.
This will be a two hour, easy to moderate ride on mostly flat trails and
roads. Bikes, helmets, locks and water will be provided. Limited to
twenty-five participants. Sign up early.
Tour Highlights:
Landscape enhancements along the Allegheny and Monongahela riverfronts
Corridor plantings in downtown Pittsburgh
A loop around Point State Park to view over two acres of restored
woodlands and cool cool off in the spray of the fountainâa dramatic focal point of
the city skyline.
Meet: 8:15 Lobby of the Westin
Depart: 9:00 am from Golden Triangle bike rental
Return: 11:00 am to Golden Triangle bike rental
Weâll meet in the lobby of our host hotel for a short walk to Golden
Triangle Bike rental which is located at 600 1st Avenue. There, we will be
outfitted with great new bikes, helmets, locks and water bottles and support
services. Tandem bikes are available too. You may make your reservation online

Cost: $20.00
