Re: Titan Blooming
It's a common horticultural myth that Amorphophallus titanum has the world's largest flower. What is mistaken for a flower is actually an inflorescence (which takes nothing away from the wow factor). The actual flowers (hundreds of them, the males on top, females on the bottom [so provincial]) are hidden at the base of the spadix, surrounded by the large spathe that is one of the characteristics of the Araceae.
Great to see my alma mater has it going on...go badgers!
