Re: Yard vs Garden

When I was taking classes in a horticulture dept., the landscape 
architect who taught the design classes told us to call the outdoor 
space a "garden" rather than a "yard" partly to persuade homeowners 
to invest in higher-end professional landscape designers and 
gardeners. "Your yard" conjures images of a utilitarian space. "Your 
garden" connotes your own personal paradise.
