Re: Yard vs Garden

I grew up with the same, back yard and front yard...we even had a side
yard...(I'm 57). There were plants around the house and in beds, but it was
still a yard surrounding the house. In fact when I was young I had to be in
the yard by the time the streetlights came on.

Now I live on property that is basically a hill leveled off for the house
and then sloping again in the back to the lake.

Now that is another twist. In times past the "front" of a lake house faced
the lake (at least as I understand in the Midwest)...mine faces the
road...as do most newer homes in our area...and seemingly around the
country.

So...being confused about front and back, and having absolutely NO GRASS
(which I always understood was part of a yard)...I name my "gardens" by area
or plant. I have a south garden, main garden, north garden, Hosta
hill...courtyard...etc.

Does that muddy the waters even further?
