Re: Yard vs Garden


Another Midwest point of view. When I lived in the city my yard was  
the area that surrounded my house and ran to the lot line.  In the  
country, where folks have acreage, the yard is the area that is  
mowed. It may or may not contain a veg garden, a flower garden or a  
pond. But for sure there's a pole barn. When I talk about my patch  
I'm referring to my yard- I live on 20 acres.  It has a natural field  
right smack dab in the middle, but I mow a strip around it to make  
sure folks know it's part of my yard.  Drives guys nuts. I had my  
pole barn built behind a huge white pine so you can't see it. I don't  
mow around it so it's not in my yard :-)
