Re: Help With a Technical Issue

Chris,

You were spot on with your first direction re the TiVo website. I was able to download the software and have learned about recovering the recording from the hard drive. Unfortunately, I won't be able to do it because of the incompatibility of the networking device, the age of my TV and grandfathered TiVo box (long story). But I wanted to thank you for the quick and accurate info.

So now I'm working on the second option, i.e., trying to capture the live streaming broadcast set for Saturday a.m.. That's tomorrow's agenda (checking on the tuner card, etc.). I'd be grateful if one day I could learn about 10% of what you and Doug Green seem to be able to handle about all of this technology stuff.

Thanks, everyone, for all your input. You never let me down!

This list rocks!!!

I do this all the time (and even copy videos to my Blackberry for later
watching), but it's not a straightforward process because I use Linux.
For now I would recommend setting the program to never delete so that
you can deal with this at your leisure (nothing like having a program
deleted that you wanted to save because you ran out of space!)

What operating system do you use (MacOS, Windows, Linux, etc.)?
That will determine how you convert these. Also, what model
  TiVo do you have?

This might be a good starting point for you:

I haven't tried this, but you need to make sure that you have a tuner
card in your computer first (wow, I put paranthetical comments in every
  paragraph).
