Fw: black widows & copperhead snakes (in great number in NCthis season)

I can't seem to get quite enough of this fascinating thread....which all
started with groundhogs, didn't it?

Found this today on ENN News: "Venomous snake bites have struck more people
in 2012 than average. Poison control center officials blame the mild winter
and early spring".
Even the Wal-mart folks aren't safe it seems! "Even Wal-Mart shoppers aren't
safe from snake bites. A man buying supplies for his marijuana garden was
bitten by a rattlesnake in a Wal-Mart garden center this year."

My understanding about the deaths from copperhead bites is this: All of them
were people who had already been bitten before, and had (no doubt, unknown
to them) developed a potent allergy to copperhead venom. When they were
bitten a second time, they went into allergenic anaphylactic shock and died.

About ENN (Environmental News Network), they put out a daily emailed
newspaper that's free & well worth getting. I highly recommend it:
