I agree that the popularity of gardening is overstated, but I have a couple
of quibbles with your missive. My natural stubbornness (must be an Irish
thing) makes me dig in my heels and resist being swept away by sweeping
statements like the following:
"If there were 60 million gardeners as is touted on many fronts, then there
would be a serious garden in every single home in America" -- Is there a
quota? Must gardeners come just one per household?
"Some annuals planted along the front of the foundation plantings is not a
garden in my view." -- The person who put in those annuals would probably
disagree with you, and would probably be insulted.
