Repetition doth not truth make.  I gave you a dictionary quote, not just 
my own opinion.  Give us something more than your own opinion.

Yes, in that case, it wouldn't matter if you didn't know that "serials" 
includes newspapers.  In plenty of other cases it would.

Your illustration doesn't seem to illustrate anything.  It seems to me 
to be designed to whitewash the fact that you're wrong about something.  
But I will mention that if you have a signed contract for "all rights," 
and you put something else on the ms, it is your contract, not your last 
unilateral statement that applies.  The contract was signed by both 
parties.  It is superceded only by later statements signed by both 
parties, not by unilateral declarations from one party.

And of course, if you sue somebody, you are not going to be working with 
them again.  That's true even if the suit was justifiable.  In your 
example, it was not.
