Re: FW: GWA Special Announcement

Hello Barbara,
After reading your note, I went to the National Gardening Site and enjoyed your article. Of particular interest is your tidbit about Canadian governemnt recommending 10 a ten fruits and vegetable servings a day. If you have an official reference for that information would you send it to me. Please only do so if it is easily available to you. If it involves a lot of digging around I can do it.

Apart from the timing issue, I think if you take time to look through the Executive Summary and then the pdf document, you will find some interesting material that came out of the survey.

Also, the industry as it were seems to be footing the bill in terms of keeping most garden writers employed (they buy the ads, commission the brochures and build the big dot com web sites, and etc.) so .... it behooves us to be able to predict a little bit where the money will be, don't you think?

Ok, so I jumped the gun.  Tough.  I don't know if you went to the website, but if my dues paid for the original research, as far as I'm concerned, it was a dead loss.  The stuff I saw would have been useful to a few industry people and not a lot of those.  I could GUESS as much as what was there.    I already KNEW most of what was on it and I'm don't even write about most of the sorts of plants that you and a lot of other people do.  I hardly gave away state secrets.
Know what it boils down to?  People buy fewer ornamentals and more edibles in times of war or crisis.  Wow!! Big News!!  I knew that 20 years ago.
