Re: George Ball's NYT op-ed article


An interesting question to get into. Some are indeed 'ruderals' growing in
very disturbed soil. Have you noticed that chickory likes to grow at the
edge of the road, right in the area that the snow plow disturbs each winter.

Others like the buckthorns can establish under an old shrub in an
undisturbed area when birds deposit the seeds of the fruit.

It all depends...
