Re: commercial blogs and other commercial writing

Hi Mary Fran,
For whatever you think they're worth, here are my thoughts:
I work for a nursery garden centre.
I write a weekly gardening column that has no connection to the nursery.
I also write copy for several businesses upon request (and for a fee, of
course.)
My wife has a community social services research firm for which I'm
occasionally the technical writer.
Each bit of writing is stand-alone and true to itself.
In 11 years of professional writing I have never been accused of a conflict
of interest.
You can drive yourself nuts and to the poorhouse worrying about what others
think sometimes. Have a good grounding in what your ethics are, stay true to
them and carry on writing.
