So. Much. Word. to this. Thank you for posting what I've been  
thinking, Dan.

I'm with Yvonne; not inclined to bite the business-hand that sometimes  
feed me. Maybe that's why I still have plenty of writing work and can  
also do my freebie-blog and newsletter in my spare time. My writing  
business is a business, I keep it ethical and work hard (and still  
manage to have fun) and still remain unowned by anyone. People hire me  
for my skills as a writer, not so much to be the face of the writing.  
I always say I don't give a damn whether my name appears in print for  
work I've done except for on the paycheques I receive. And those where  
it doesn't appear often pay a helluva lot better than the assorted  
magazine and newspaper clients I have.
