Bat Houses...butterfly houses...toad houses

What is next? Caterpillar pup tents? Slug caves? Aphid domes? and how about
Snake Tubes.

Ah, now here is a trend for garden writers....one to buck, me thinks:
butterfly and bat houses. None of the subject houses work. Yet every garden
catalog touts them. How do we, as garden communicators, let our own industry
foist these things on those we are trying to inform, educate and entertain?
