Re: Most Frequent Questions/Kitchen gardens/Food
Exactly. People don't even seem to mind eating genetically engineered food
which has not been proven safe for human health.
However, I have hope. Browsing in the news agency this evening I came across
a long article in Wired magazine about the "new" genetic plant breeding
techniques (called Superorganics in the article) in which desirable/undesirable
genes from within the plant are activated vs. the "old outdated" recombinant DNA
methods that produce transgenic organisms (genes from other species that would
not normally cross in nature). The article was fairly sophisticated, so surely
some knowledge and intellectual curiosity about plants and their connection
to food is being passed on to a wider audience?
And now is the time for Lon to break in and suggest this thread continue on
the gwl-g list, but I was surprised and pleased to find this article in an
unexpected source - Wired.
Now the midnight debate flares -- should the article be indexed or not?:)
